Only something for this project could motivate me to get up, out and at the post office for 9:00am on a Saturday.
Isn't it a thing of beauty? Now I just need to figure out what to do with it! I've been reading a few blogs about preparing them so I have a rough idea.
Not sure if you can see in the picture, but the base plate (the part that isn't a dome) has got the R2builders club logo on it. I love the attention to detail!
Speaking of detail, each laser cut panel on the outer dome is perfect. There's no way I could have matched the precision! It's very solid - I read somewhere that they're sturdy enough for a person to stand on with out it giving. Naturally, I had to test that out and it's true!
I've done so much home work on building an Astromech now that I feel it's about time I got on with it. Having R2's face is a great motivator (not like those R5's lol). The next step is to get the plans for the frame printed and styrene ordered! I'll likely be doing some prep on the dome meanwhile too, so stay tuned!
