Tweaks

The race is on now.

I want to get R2 running by October as the plan is to head over to FACTS (in Belgium) with him :)

As things have been progressing nicely it should be achievable if I can keep up the pace.

With that in mind, I took two steps back and decided to take the feet apart.  The good news is, they're very well stuck together and very strong.  The bad news is, they're very well stuck together and very strong making them near impossible to take apart!

I've decided to revisit the original idea of having 2 wheels in each side foot.  Where as before I was going to have one on a motor and one on a drive belt, this time I want them to be both on motors!

I didn't do anything fancy to measure where to mount the new motors.  I placed the wheels where I wanted them and used that as a reference for how far apart to make them.  I used the holes already drilled for the one motor to determine where to drill.

All worked out pretty good :) I've now reassembled the whole foot and it's managing to hold well.  I need to wait for the new motors to arrive to assemble the second foot but it's already in pieces :)

And with all the stuff to make him RC in the post, we should be see him driving around pretty soon!

Before all this happened I hosted a BBQ for a few other builders.  Thanks to everyone who came!  The weather was great and it was a nice opportunity to talk to other builders about their droids and have a look inside without worrying about members of the public and needing to put on a show!
